Annie & Robbie Part 2

You might remember Annie & Robbie from the recent pictures I posted. Well I also shot a little video, and over the last few days have been editing together a little film to surprise them with! This was the first one that I shot & edited by myself using the 5D Mark II and Final Cut Pro, which was really a feat since I know little about Final Cut except from what I picked up by looking over Ashley’s shoulder while she is editing. Enjoy and let me know what you think!

Heather & Chase’s Engagement Session Video

I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday weekend! I can’t wait to share with you my very eventful weekend which included an awesome shoot on Friday for Eli Cook’s new album, two wonderful weddings that I will be sharing with you soon, and a busy Monday in the office producing this very awesome video!

I am very excited to share with you my very first Fusion Style Engagement Session! Fusion Style is a new term that we use to describe a coverage where we mix photography with cinema. With our new cameras being able to shoot both HD Video and high quality photographs we have really taken advantage of this to expand the types of coverage we offer. The one thing I really love about video is it’s ability to compliment the photographs in telling a story! I was really inspired to start offering this type of coverage after talking with The Bebbs (who were named one of the top 10 wedding photographers in the world by American Photo Magazine). What they told me is that often a picture can show you a moment in time, but it might not be able to tell you the full story. LIke when you see a picture of a couple laughing during a toast, you can see that the speech was funny, but you can’t hear what was said. Now with the advances in technology it is easier than ever to share the full experience of that moment with you!

With Heather & Chase’s Engagement Session I wanted to share a little more about them then you usually get to see. After having a fun afternoon shooting during the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC we sat down on the mall and talked about everything from what they loved about each other to a funny moment involving hot sauce and pizza! Needless to say we had an awesome time and I am really looking forward to being a part of their wedding this coming weekend!

I would like to thank Erin Manfredi who assisted me in shooting video, Alison Harbin for helping with lights and schlepping equipment through DC, Ashley Chipman who did an awesome job editing everything together, and finally Heather and Chase for being so awesome! I hope you enjoy our first official Fusion Style Engagement Session!

Jennifer and Jason’s Engagement Session

Two blog posts in two weeks! So much better than one blog post every few months, don’t you think?!

… anyway, I thought I would share a few pictures from Jennifer and Jason’s engagement session which took place last weekend at the beautiful King Family Vineyards and Darden (UVA’s school of Business)! Jennifer and Jason met while attending Darden, and although they now live up in DC, Jennifer told me that they wanted to come back to Charlottesville for their engagement pictures. I think they made the right choice as I had the hardest time trying to choose my favorite pictures to show you as they were all so beautiful! Here are 5 of my favorites, some of which I had a little fun with in Photoshop!

Annie & Robbie’s Engagement Session

I’m feeling like a bear coming out of hibernation! The last few months have been whizzing past me like a dream and now I’m finally coming out of my blogging stupor and ready to update you with everything that’s been going on! … well not everything as that would take a few months, but hopefully over the next few weeks I will be able to hit the highlights!

First, I hope everyone has gotten a chance to see the new wedding photography website! I started working on it over 8 months ago and finally launched a few weeks ago with over 160 new wedding pictures (and many more to come)! I really love the new destination wedding section! Eventually the rest of my website will be getting a facelift, so be on the lookout for my new fashion/entertainment/sports section!

The second big news is we are now offering Fusion Style Cinematography services! With our new cameras we now have the ability to shoot both amazing photos and amazing HD video, so I’ve been taking full advantage of it. Check out the teaser video I made from Eric and Lora’s wedding back in December on Vimeo! I’ll probably talk about this more in a coming post, but for now I’ll just say how awesome I think it is and I can’t wait to show off some more projects that I’ve been working on in this Fusion Style!

… and for the last big news (at least for today) … Annie & Robbie are getting married! They’re two of my good friends from college who are absolutely awesome people! Annie was actually one of the first three people I met after moving into the dorms at UVA! I loved hanging out with her as she always seemed very cheerful and happy. Robbie lived just one floor down from Annie, and after becoming friends with him later in the semester I found him to be very cheerful as well. Often you find couples that make each other happy, but what I love about Annie and Robbie is that they not only make each other happy but they also have an infectious way of making other people happy! So although I don’t get to see them as much anymore, when I do, I truly enjoy being around them!

Recently we had the chance to spend an afternoon having fun at Sugar Hollow and took some awesome engagement pictures! It was by far the longest engagement session I have ever done (6 hours!), but it felt like it flew by and thankfully the rain held off! Here are just a few of my favorites from last Friday! Also, I have to thank Annie & Robbie for being troopers by wading through the river and standing in frigid cold water for 20 – 30 minutes to get these pictures! Not many people would have done that! Enjoy!
