Here are some of Sam and Greg’s beautiful engagement pictures from their engagement session on the Downtown Mall and the lawn at UVA! Sam and Greg both went to the University of Pittsburgh Pharmacy school, which is where they met, and started dating. (Both of them are Pittsburgh Penguins fans! Go Pens!) For Sam’s graduation present, Greg booked a trip to Hawaii! Sam was suspicious that he might propose on the trip, but they had been there for five days and still no ring, so she thought she might have been wrong… Then they went to Maui for a luau and afterwards, knowing how much Sam likes to listen to the waves at night, they went for a walk on the beach. That’s when Greg popped the question! Sam and Greg are going to be married this fall at Keswick Vineyards, and they are so excited for all their family and friends to be in one place and having a great time. We are so happy we get to be a part of their wedding!

These delicious looking cupcakes are from Cappelino’s Crazy Cakes, which is on the downtown mall, and worked perfectly as a part of Sam and Greg’s engagement session!

Now for Katie and Steve’s Wedding Pictures! Katie and Steve met at UVA, so it was fitting that their wedding was held at the Colonnade Club and Alumni Hall. Katie got her dress on in the The Jefferson Room of the Colonnade Club with the help of her bridesmaids. Then she went underneath the Rotunda and waited for Steve to meet her for the “Big Reveal”, which was emotional and sweet. They made sure to get a picture in front of Room 38 in the colonnades under the Rotunda where Katie lived her 4th year. During their walk around UVA Katie took off her shoes and held them for a few pictures, and they are some of my favorites; I love how Katie’s red shoes match Steve’s tie!
Then they had their ceremony under a Chuppah outside of the Colonnade Club, and no Jewish wedding ceremony would be complete without the traditional breaking of a glass. After the ceremony, the guests went to Alumni Hall for the reception. The reception was beautiful, with flowers from Beehive Events and well coordinated details by Barb Wired Events. The cake made by Maliha Creations was gorgeous, (and absolutely delicious, I was told). There was so much energy flowing through the night, and the guests had fun dancing to the music provided by DJ Derek Tobler. They also took a break during the usual wedding dancing to have every one join in the Virginia Reel! Then Katie and Steve made their exit amidst sparklers and a few weeks later left on their honeymoon to Greece!

Charlottesville Weddings – The University of Virginia

May 2011 could go down as the rainiest month I have ever seen in Virginia! Unfortunately almost every weekend consisted of a forecast for rain, however you know what they say … rain on your wedding day is good luck! For Emily & Dan good luck came in many forms …

The first part of their good luck came in the form of Megan Daubert, the brilliant wedding planner behind Megan Daubert Events! I can always trust that things will be well organized and on time when Megan is coordinating the wedding. She was also well prepared with plenty of pretty umbrellas in a variety of colors for the wedding party!

Emily & Dan were married at St. Paul’s Memorial Church located on the historic Corner at the University of Virginia. After the ceremony the rain subsided and we were able to take beautiful pictures at the Rotunda and the UVA lawn before walking over to the Colonnade Club for their reception.

Of course you can always expect good luck if you choose Pat’s Floral Designs. They always provide beautiful floral arrangements, I loved the classic, elegant, look of all the bouquets! They looked great with Emily’s beautiful wedding dress from West Main Bridal, as well as the Bridesmaids dresses! … Dan was sporting a dapper uniform courtesy of the US Air Force.

More good luck was found in the always delicious food from Harvest Moon Catering and yummy cake from Baker’s Palette. Lastly, Emily & Dan chose the Jeff Decker Band to set a romantic mood throughout the evening with their soft and soothing sounds.

Congratulations to Emily & Dan! Thank you for making us part of your wedding! We hope you enjoy looking back on your wedding pictures with many fond memories. May you have many years filled with lots of good luck!

Adventures of a Wedding Photographer – Lauren and JD tie the knot in Kilmarnock VA

As promised here are a few pictures from Lauren and JD’s wedding! College sweethearts and UVA alum, Lauren and JD have a long and rich history together! Currently they live in San Francisco, but journeyed back to Virginia for their wedding on the Chesapeake Bay in Kilmarnock, Va. They tied the knot at Grace Episcopal Church, and the reception was held at the JD’s parents’ river house. The reception stayed true to a water theme with the image of a crab playing a big part in their decorating scheme. The delicious food from Carried Away Cuisine featured seafood, with yummy scallops and crab cakes. The photographs Aaron took by the water are absolutely beautiful! The sky even cooperated by being the same color as the bridesmaid’s dresses! A big thank you goes out to our good friend and very talented videographer Matt Ryb who accompanied Aaron on behalf of Exist N Motion Films, and to Kevin Zahn who assisted with the photography.

My Crazy Friends

This past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Annie & Robbie’s wedding (who are good friends of mine from UVA). As we all suspected it turned out to be a crazy night, and to commemorate it I thought I would share a few of the photos that were taken by my crazy friends in the photobooth!

I would like to thank Erica and Ryan for getting the props even though they spent $10 (of the $30 I gave them) on props and used the rest for themselves! I should have thought twice when Erica told me the government trusts her with money … it all makes sense now!

Annie & Robbie Part 2

You might remember Annie & Robbie from the recent pictures I posted. Well I also shot a little video, and over the last few days have been editing together a little film to surprise them with! This was the first one that I shot & edited by myself using the 5D Mark II and Final Cut Pro, which was really a feat since I know little about Final Cut except from what I picked up by looking over Ashley’s shoulder while she is editing. Annie & Robbie’s Engagement Session

I’m feeling like a bear coming out of hibernation! The last few months have been whizzing past me like a dream and now I’m finally coming out of my blogging stupor and ready to update you with everything that’s been going on! … well not everything as that would take a few months, but hopefully over the next few weeks I will be able to hit the highlights!

First, I hope everyone has gotten a chance to see the new wedding photography website! I started working on it over 8 months ago and finally launched a few weeks ago with over 160 new wedding pictures (and many more to come)! I really love the new destination wedding section! Eventually the rest of my website will be getting a facelift, so be on the lookout for my new fashion/entertainment/sports section!

The second big news is we are now offering Fusion Style Cinematography services! With our new cameras we now have the ability to shoot both amazing photos and amazing HD video, so I’ve been taking full advantage of it. Check out the teaser video I made from Eric and Lora’s wedding back in December on Vimeo! I’ll probably talk about this more in a coming post, but for now I’ll just say how awesome I think it is and I can’t wait to show off some more projects that I’ve been working on in this Fusion Style!

… and for the last big news (at least for today) … Annie & Robbie are getting married! They’re two of my good friends from college who are absolutely awesome people! Annie was actually one of the first three people I met after moving into the dorms at UVA! I loved hanging out with her as she always seemed very cheerful and happy. Robbie lived just one floor down from Annie, and after becoming friends with him later in the semester I found him to be very cheerful as well. Often you find couples that make each other happy, but what I love about Annie and Robbie is that they not only make each other happy but they also have an infectious way of making other people happy! So although I don’t get to see them as much anymore, when I do, I truly enjoy being around them!

Recently we had the chance to spend an afternoon having fun at Sugar Hollow and took some awesome engagement pictures! It was by far the longest engagement session I have ever done (6 hours!), but it felt like it flew by and thankfully the rain held off! Here are just a few of my favorites from last Friday! Also, I have to thank Annie & Robbie for being troopers by wading through the river and standing in frigid cold water for 20 – 30 minutes to get these pictures! Not many people would have done that! Enjoy!
